Weber Family Dental in Gainesville

Weber Family Dental in Gainesville Hello! I’m Dr. Joe Weber, DMD, of Weber Family Dental in Gainesville GA.

I have been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry since 1991. Dentistry is a challenging and fascinating profession; dentists must have diagnostic skills, dexterity, extensive scientific knowledge, and good visual memory. Dentistry also requires artistic ability. In addition to the technical aspects of dentistry, I really enjoy interacting with my Gainesville dental patients.

I recognize that my clients have other choices in Lawrenceville, Norcross, and Gainesville GA area dental practices, and I work continually to earn their trust and surpass their expectations.

Each dentistry client is unique. Many of my patients come in twice-yearly for an exam and cleaning to prevent gum disease and other oral health issues. We help them maintain excellent oral health. Some cosmetic dentistry clients come to me seeking major restorative dentistry work. It is extremely gratifying to complete a smile makeover and see the client’s reaction when they see the result for the first time.

When I have a pre-treatment consultation with a new dentistry client, it is very informative for both of us. The patient learns the specifics about the possible procedures and I learn about the clients’ goals, concerns and expectations. Then I work with the client to develop a dental treatment plan that fits the patient’s needs, desired outcome and budget.

My dental practice is located at 1146 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, GA in Gainesville. If you are looking for an experienced dentist in the Lawrenceville or Gainesville area, call 678.928.9320 to schedule a consultation.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Cavity Fighting Chewing Gum For Our Gainesville Patients?

Lawrenceville Oral Dentistry I’m Dr. Joe Weber DMD of Weber Family Dental in Gainesville. My Lawrenceville and Gainesville, GA dentistry clients often ask me if chewing xylitol gum is an effective substitute for tooth brushing and regular Gainesville dental exams.

Before I answer that question, let me tell you a little bit about xylitol:

Xylitol is a natural sweetener that was first discovered in birch tree bark but is also found in many fruits and vegetables. Unlike most other sweeteners (natural or synthetic), xylitol is actually good for your teeth. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that xylitol prevents the growth of the bacteria that initiates decay. It also reduces plaque and strengthens tooth enamel.

Xylitol has other benefits, as well. Because it is low on the glycemic index, many of my diabetic patients enjoy it as a healthy alternative to sugar. If my cosmetic dentistry patients complain about frequent dry mouth, I recommend Xylitol gum or mints to stimulate saliva production without promoting tooth decay.

Now, back to the golden question. Is xylitol gum just as effective as brushing your teeth and seeing your Lawrenceville or Gainesville family dentist regularly? Absolutely not! If you cannot brush your teeth after a meal, chewing xylitol gum for five or ten minutes is probably a good idea. However, you should still brush your teeth thoroughly (with a soft brush) after meals and get twice-yearly exams and oral dentistry deep cleanings at your Gainesville dentistry clinic. This will help prevent gum disease and other oral health problems.

At Weber Family Dental, our goal is to keep your smile healthy and beautiful for life by preventing dental problems before they start. If you postpone dental visits until you feel pain, you risk losing teeth and most certainly will require more extensive treatment than if the problem was caught earlier. Is it time for a dental exam? Call us at 678.928.9320 to book an appointment. Our warm and friendly is waiting to take care of all your dental needs.

Overbites And Underbites in Gainesville

Posted by Dr. Joseph Weber — @ 12:10 pm under TMJ

Overbites And Underbites When the upper part of the jaw and the lower part of the jaw are not the same size, bite problems like TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) can occur. When the lower jaw is smaller than the upper jaw, it is called an overbite. When the reverse is true, it is called an underbite. Another related alignment disorder is called a crossbite. Crossbites occur when lower teeth are in the wrong position. They may be incorrectly positioned sideways, forward or backward.

Malocclusion (literally ‘bad bite’) is the term used for all types of bite problems including overbites, underbites and crossbites. Jaw alignment disorders can cause a range of problems and often prohibit proper chewing and/or swallowing. Teeth can shift around in the mouth, causing even more discomfort or difficulty. Gum disease and tooth decay are also harder to prevent because proper oral hygiene can be difficult with a malocclusion. TMJ disorder (TMD) can develop over time. Distorted facial shape and unattractive teeth are often the most noticeable and troubling issues for those affected.

Fortunately, there are a variety of effective treatments for bite problems. If you suspect your child has a bite misalignment, it is especially important to have them examined as early as possible. By starting early, you can make sure they avoid years of pain and self-consciousness.

Call Weber Family Dental at 678.928.9320. Dentist Dr. Joe Weber, DMD is experienced in diagnosing bite disorders in patients of all ages. We can create a successful treatment plan for you, including TMJ therapy. We also perform restorative dentistry, dental crowns and porcelain veneers for Lawrenceville and Gainesville area dental clients.
